Should you buy an 8K TV in 2023? John Archer just tested the best in the world – here are the pros and cons

By Bob Raikes

In an article published on TechRadar, respected technology writer and TV tester John Archer went through the pros and cons of buying an 8K TV. While acknowledging the relative lack of native 8K content, he has endorsed the view that upscaled 4K can look better on an 8K TV than on a 4K set and also highlighted a point that the 8K Association has been making for some time. TV makers put their best processing, audio and other TV features in their 8K sets, so you are usually getting the ‘best of the best’ when you choose an 8K set. It’s not just about the number of pixels!

I bought a Samsung 55″ 8K TV for less than $2,000. It was selling for less than $1,000 before it was discontinued. My Acer Laptop outputs 8K using ACDSee PhotoStudio 2024. My Sony 61 MegaPixel camera fills the screen and can show images exactly as they will print out on my Epson SureColor P900 printer.
